Simply allow me to tilt my iPhone when I read my emails. It works in almost every single application, why not that one where the content can be pretty wide?

Give us iChat! Complete with threaded text discussions like iChat for the Mac. Make it run in the background so that we can be logged into IM all the time and receive instant messages when our phone is asleep. Give us ringtone and vibration settings to alert us of new IMs. Make it work with the Jabber, AIM accounts that we use with iChat on the Mac. For bonus points add support for MSN and Yahoo.

I wish they would stop sending repeated notifications after receiving an SMS text message. Please only beep the phone once when receiving a message so I don't think I'm getting new messages, or let this be an option for the user to set.

While the Auto-Complete is good, but it is hard to skip a recommendation since I almost always have a problem in hitting the 'x' and end up in a few irritating cycles of 'delete-word-retype-hit-x'. (Especially bites me when typing acronyms in text messaging.)

a flashing LED notification for when I receive a new message (email, text, vmail), very much like Blackberry. It's really not hard to do. The sound notification is nice but every time I leave my phone and go away (bathroom, to my car, get a beer out of the fridge, etc) I have to check my phone for new messages, which an LED indicator will solve....

Privacy please! With the App Store now comes a lot of iPhone "sharing" - "hey, friend, play this game!". I should be able to prevent SMS messages from popping up while I'm in an application! Disabling SMS preview is a start, but that's irrelevant if my phone is unlocked and in my friend's hand.

Allow click-drag on keyboard with one finger to see which key is selected (like it does today), then use tap with other finger to "hit" the key but DON'T dismiss the selected key! This would allow easier text input for people with fat fingers.

Queing SMS messages when no cell service is availble so that they can be sent as soon as a signal is acquired. This would be particularly useful when you are in the subway with an intermitent signal. Many other phones will do this.

We need the ability to lock certain parts of the phone and unlock others. If a friend needs to use the phone for directions or nags you until they get to play a game, what if a private text message comes in? Sure you can turn off the preview, but they can still hit open or just go to the text message app. Just add a quick option to lock down sensitive material, but not the whole phone.

WAP (the mobile internet) Most SMS services uses WAP to launch the browser on ALL other phones, this is a FAST and convenient way to gain access to mobile internet services. the iPhone just IGNORES such messages and you do not even receive them?

I want to be able to forward SMS texts! Example a friend sends me their address and I need to forward on to other people so they know where to meet up. All phones can do this! Why not the best phone!

Wouldn't it be nice if there was an "outbox" when you're SMSing—if you are out of range, it'll send your message once you get back in?

Not having the ability to turn on a "safe" text messaging option so that the alert of a new text message simply reads "x new message(s)" instead of the entire content as it is now.

SMS text message delivery reports PLEASE. First phone I ever had that couldn't do that basic feature (forwarding too)
