Landscape typing in all applications that allow typing. When the iPhone is in landscape mode it's easier to hold with two hands and type with two thumbs.

While the Auto-Complete is good, but it is hard to skip a recommendation since I almost always have a problem in hitting the 'x' and end up in a few irritating cycles of 'delete-word-retype-hit-x'. (Especially bites me when typing acronyms in text messaging.)

Fix emails so they display properly regardless of format. When I'm viewing some messages, the font is so small I can't see, and when I double clcik on the message to try and zoom in, it won't, so I have to manually zoom in and then scroll forever to view. Also, some emails don't word wrap so I have to scroll to the right.

Make the scroll bar on the right of the Safari screen (and other applications) interactive so I can use it to scroll up and down. Using the finger gesture on long sites or sections of texr can take forever.

a flashing LED notification for when I receive a new message (email, text, vmail), very much like Blackberry. It's really not hard to do. The sound notification is nice but every time I leave my phone and go away (bathroom, to my car, get a beer out of the fridge, etc) I have to check my phone for new messages, which an LED indicator will solve....

Fix email. Since 2.1 update my iphone will not fetch my mail every 15 minutes like it used to. I have to manually fetch my email. This is a known issue all over the apple message boards.

Allow 'working times' to be applied to email retrieval. I want email to be downloaded during awake hours, but when I am asleep, I don't want to have to put the phone on silent to allow me that precious sleep. My last phone (Symbian) allowed this, surely apple can. Until then, the iPhone is on silent as I sleep, and important calls/messages get missed.

As a user, I expect the UI to behave in the same way across (at least) all native iPhone applications, so that in true Apple style, once I am used to a certain UI behaviour, it is consistent throughout my device. eg. the landscape keyboard, the .com key, accelerometer-driven screen rotation.

Set the sender/reply-to email address in the Mail app for Gmail (and other) accounts. Currently when you create an account for Gmail it defaults to the Gmail address - I alias my Gmail account to a different address but there's no way I can tell Mail app to use that address.

offline emailing. I hate the fact that I can't trash messages or compose new messages without having a stupid alert come and interrupt me. This is using exchange email services, not live IMAP - there's no reason why a sync when you do go online shouldn't do everything you did while you were offline.

How about the ability to change my email notification to a sound that is actually audible. My phone notification can scare me its so loud , but I can barely hear an email in a quiet room with the phone right in front of me.

Search: Safari should gain the ability to find text on an open page, and the Mail application should be able to search multiple accounts (optionally) for the given text appearing in (at least) the subject, sender, or recipient fields, with the option of a full-text search.

I wish I could add my email inbox as a 'HomeScreen' icon - instead Apple makes me navigate through my account folders then back to accounts and then all the way back into my other email account.... hmmm

I would like to sync my sended e-mails with Outlook. By the moment it is only possible to sync incomming mails.

Check all IMAP email folders for new messages - not just inbox. My messages are filtered at the server and so currently I have to go into every folder to see if there are new messages in it! This is really annoying and takes ages. I should at least be able to choose which folders it checks for new mail as I can in Thunderbird.

To preserve the battery, when you check your email but don't want to check drain the battery cause you just checked for new mail 5 minutes previously, have a icon you click on to have to check for new mail instead of it automatically checking everytime you look at old mail

When you click on an email, sometimes the first paragraph is omitted from the view. This is frustrating as there seems to be no way of fixing it, though sometimes it fixes in time. What's stranger still is that often part of the omitted paragraph can be seem in the mail preview.

Cache the email that you have already viewed, I hate it when I can't re-view an email that I have previously viewed because I don't currently have service, or even if I just have to sit there and wait for an email to re-load. I have plenty of memory on the phone, it should be able to cache this for me!

I would like the ability to assign custom ring tone notifications for seperate email accounts or individual senders. I'd like to know the difference between my sister's email and my Boss's email without having to look at the phone each time it chirps.

I really want a mark all as read button for each of my email accounts so I don't have to scroll down the whole bloody list every day to mark them read. This would be a real time saver for me. I would have to think others would like this too!

In mail, please add an option for updating the unread message count for sub-folders automatically when checking for new mail. It's a pain to have to navigate into each sub-folder individually just to see if there's anything new in there.

Hold down on elements in the standard applications to have a menu slide up/down. (Like holding the center button on the new Nano slides down that menu.) Hold down on phone number or email address within Mail for "Add to contact" and "Create new contact". Hold down on a Name in the Contacts application for "Add to group".
