Give us iChat! Complete with threaded text discussions like iChat for the Mac. Make it run in the background so that we can be logged into IM all the time and receive instant messages when our phone is asleep. Give us ringtone and vibration settings to alert us of new IMs. Make it work with the Jabber, AIM accounts that we use with iChat on the Mac. For bonus points add support for MSN and Yahoo.

Add the Push API so that we can start using instant messaging clients while the phone is "sleeping"

Don't see your complaint listed here? What's your wish?

Make insatnt message applications be able to run in the background. That way I can be signed in and able to receive message alerts even though I am not in the IM app.

1. Block certain phone numbers from calling you. 2. Option to record a phone call. 3. Tethering ( at least with limited bandwidth ) 4. Make Ipod on Iphone play internet radio streams ( or allow apps that do run in the background) 5. Finally release push notifications for IM apps and so that google could make a push-Gmail app!!!

An Instant Messaging client.... and make one that sits at the same level as the Blackberry Messenger..... were you can send not only text but also pictures, videos, voice recording and even files.....Of course make it a background running always on application. Integration with other IM services would be a killer, Live Messenger, Yahoo, AOL IM.....

Fix email. Since 2.1 update my iphone will not fetch my mail every 15 minutes like it used to. I have to manually fetch my email. This is a known issue all over the apple message boards.

Please add an official to-do list application that synchronizes with iChat over MobileMe. We also need data detectors in Mail that would allow one to automatically create a reminder in To-Dos.

Allow me to use the Clock application to set certain system preferences to save power. For instance, pushing and fetching email. I don't need to fetch email during the night but do in the daytime.

Allow 'working times' to be applied to email retrieval. I want email to be downloaded during awake hours, but when I am asleep, I don't want to have to put the phone on silent to allow me that precious sleep. My last phone (Symbian) allowed this, surely apple can. Until then, the iPhone is on silent as I sleep, and important calls/messages get missed.

I'd like to be able to receive a missed call notification even if the phone was off, out of service or using the edge network. I hate having to tell people to leave a message just in case because it doesn't deliver missed calls. Maybe this could be worked into the upcoming PUSH service.

offline emailing. I hate the fact that I can't trash messages or compose new messages without having a stupid alert come and interrupt me. This is using exchange email services, not live IMAP - there's no reason why a sync when you do go online shouldn't do everything you did while you were offline.

Birthdays should have alarm reminders. It makes no sense to have to pull up a contact's info to find out that their Birthday was last week?! I can't always remember beforehand but my iPhone should!

As a Google Toolbar/Bookmarks user, I would like to be able to prefer the 1000 or so bookmarks I already have in my Google account as the sync option in MobileMe (ie. support multiple sources, even RSS, instead of just Safari)... so that I can continue to use a far superior bookmarking tool across multiple platforms and locations (work, home, mobile).

If I'm in an elevator and lose connectivity, I don't want to have to wait a full minute after I get out before I can make a call. I hate that I get halfway to the parking lot before the phone figures out that there's now connectivity. Under normal circumstances, that's fine -- but a swipe should always attempt to resync the phone with the carrier.

Annoying pop-up messages! For example the "Lost Network" message, particularly when you are in the subway. Allow us to turn it off, or have a "Do Not Disturb" setting, where it won't notify you of anything for a set time period, or until you press the "Home" button. No more distractions while watching a TV show or playing a game...
