A Bit of Background

FullSIX created PleaseFixTheiPhone as a technological ode to everyone's favorite phone. The site also acts as a promotional tool to demonstrate the capabilities of our newest office in Brooklyn, NY. We wanted to show our clients and prospects that our teams know how to engage consumers and develop mobile platforms.

Furthermore, PleaseFixtheiPhone serves as a great support to promote our blog, The Trendwatch, an impromptu think-tank written by FullSIX team members around the world who share theories and beliefs about how we think communication and connectivity is evolving.

Both FullSIX NY and The Trendwatch are subtly presented on every page of the site, in the footer and more in detail on the About page:

PleaseFixtheiPhone is an example of a new breed of marketing tactic, where advertisers deliver useful tools to their consumers in exchange for a bit of attention.

Results

PleaseFixtheiPhone rapidly became one of the most talked about websites in recent weeks generating more than 500 blog mentions and news articles; since its launch in October 2008, PleaseFixTheiPhone.com has been bombarded with the whims and wishes of impassioned iPhone users from around the world.

The site has captured over 550,000 votes and around 190,000 visits.

The buzz around PleaseFixtheiPhone and the high traffic generated a massive increase in visits and subscriptions to The Trendwatch blog (three times more qualified subscribers in 2 weeks) and FullSIX NY Facebook Fan page showcasing our work for our clients.

Ultimately we envision the PleaseFixtheiPhone platform as an affordable, immediate and portable focus group, helping to provide instant feedback in the most fleeting of marketing technologies: the internet.

More Details About the Site Itself

PleaseFixTheiPhone is the playful embodiment of both love and frustration for the device. The site empowers iPhone users to voice their specific wishes and gripes, or stand as one by adding their vote to the wishes of others. Naturally, the team developed an iPhone-optimized version taking advantage of the simplicity and friendliness of the much lauded iPhone User Interface, making the on-the-go addition of new wishes something to look forward to.

The site is a social application that encourages user interaction. On the homepage, visitors are presented with the highest ranked issues and can vote along with other iPhone users seeking change. There is also built-in integration with Facebook allowing wishes to be directly posted and seeded virally. If an Apple update addresses a posted wish, the site allows for users to document the fix online. PleaseFixTheiPhone acts as an important communication service, keeping the iPhone community abreast of relevant product enhancements.

PleaseFixTheiPhone is the most recent addition to the bevy of customer-driven online networks aimed at consumer-guided product development. For the first time, brands are actively engaging with consumers through the power of the internet and soliciting ideas for improvements.

Behind the site is the New York-based full-service marketing agency FullSIX. Almost every employee in the FullSIX office uses (and loves) the iPhone. The team was thrilled when given the opportunity to develop iPhone specific m-commerce sites for its clients. These sites include features such as online shopping, video content, and iPhone wallpapers, all designed to engage consumers on-the-go. The team loved developing for the mobile platform, but encountered so many frustrating issues in testing the sites on their iPhones that they were compelled to build PleaseFixTheiPhone. So far the reaction to the site has been rapturous amongst internet consumers and clients alike.

"The site is a modern love poem, and we have been overwhelmed by the lightning rod response it has achieved overnight. It has been both an exciting and rewarding experience to harness the collective voices of iPhone users around the world. We aim to roll out several more mobile applications to boost commerce and marketing in the coming months, while continuing to improve PleaseFixTheiPhone," Olivier Peyre, Creative Director, FullSIX NY.
